clutch problems??
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 18-Mar-02 AT 08:28 PM (EST)]Okay, I already know I have some clutch trouble, but how bad? I'm getting a sort of grinding noise as I release the clutch in gear. I was told this was the throwout bearing. Now it's acting like something's sticking - as I try to start out I really have to gun it releasing the clutch or it'll die (pretty embarrasing killing it two or three times in the parking lot). Once the clutch is engaged, my power is back, so I don't think it's engine related. After I've driven awhile the it acts normal, but acts up again if I let it sit for even ten minutes. Is something just about ready to go out? How bad is this going to be to get fixed? It's a '95 Mazda 5 speed. Thanks.

The slave valve is by far the weakest link in the clutch system on your truck . From what you desribe its only a matter of time before the slave valve dies for good . The throwout bearing & slave valve are sort of integrated . You can purchase the TO bearing serperately , But if you purchase the slave valve the TO bearing comes with it . The TO bearing slides on a shaft , the shaft wears & causes the TO bearing to bind .
