I know this is a weird question and alot of people will be like "Why", but bear with me.
Are the front i beam pivots the same on a 4wd bronco as they are on a 2wd i beam f150. I have a buddy that is getting a 4wd bronco cheap but doesnt want the 4wd and wants to put 2wd i beams on it. I just dont know if the pivots are the same to bolt right up or if I have to buy the pivots.
No, the I-beams (2WD) are different from the Traction beams (4WD). They won't bolt up. Tell him to buy a pickup truck with a camper, or just don't ever use the 4WD on the Bronco.
If he doesn't want the 4wd then he'd have to change an aweful lot. I mean you could get rid of the front differential and put in the 2wd suspension but, WHY? You'll loose re-sale value and 4wd is handly even if you barely use it. Also, the front suspension would be 2" lower than it is now. To do a full removal of the 4wd, he'd have to take out the transfer case, somehow cover up the hole for the shifter in the floor, change the tailshaft on the transmission (not cheap) and have a custom driveshaft made (need a longer one).
I know all the 4wd has to be removed and all of its components. He can get the truck for $2,000 so its not that much. He just doesnt want the 4wd, I dont know why, and wants to put just bent beams on it. I was just wondering if the I beam pivots are the same. I have the resources for a new driveshaft and tranny and stuff so he is not worried about that. I understand why you guys are questioning the whole process. I did to, but he is giving me the whole 4wd assembly for free for one of my projext trucks.
