Headrest DVD Install

I bought a pair of aftermarket headrest DVD players and am debating whether I should try to install them myself, or pay a car stereo shop about $200 to do it. Have any of you guys ever installed these on in a lariat with the leather seats. I can't seem to figure out how to get the wires through the back of the seat becasue it appears that the seat back doesn't come off.

For $200 I'd pay them to do it. Do the headrests look the same? Color?

I was kind of leaning that way as well. As for them matching the truck. They're pretty much a perfect match in color and style. These are the ones I bought. Concept CLD-903 - 9" Headrest Monitor | Pacific Stereo.

Haven't installed them yet, so I can't speak for performance, but they look nice.

They look good. How many wires are there? Is it just power and ground?

I thought I remembered seeing a zipper on each side of the seat?

There's power and ground, as well as AV cables in and out on both units. I was going to make one of the units the master by hooking up the output from it to the input on the other, then use the input on the master to hook up a PS3 so the kids can play video games on long trips. I thought I would run the input AV cable for the PS3 under the back seat and only put the PS3 in the truck when we are taking road trips. I think I'm more excited about doing this than my kids are. Toys are fun.

Maybe there is. I could have easily missed it. I will have to look today.

Yea, it sounds like a blast. With kids and road trips, you absolutely have to have something for them to watch to occupy some time.

You were right, there are zippers on the back of the seat. The headrests are now in, and look great. I'm very happy with the result, especially with how little they cost relative to the OEM units.

Great to hear that. How did you hook them up? Where did you tap for power and ground? Where's our pictures...?

One thing I have noticed is that you can't adjust the headrest from front to back like you can on the factory ones, and this leaves them fairly far back from the back of my head. This doesn't bother me, but I could see it bothering those that like to rest their head on the headrest.
