truck won't start

For some odd reason my truck I was running and I drove it around the yard just to test the brakes. I've been needing it to be fixed and it randomly just died and now when I try to crank it up or when I turn the key on there is a really loud screaming noise coming from under the dash. I looked under there and the sound was coming from a relay and I think it's connected to the center distributor wire or coil wire. I don't remember what its called on the center of the distributor cap. It was whining when I replaced it and I don't know why it won't start and it sounds like the high pressure fuel pump constantly running and I can't locate the inertia switch just wondering if you guys could help me.

I think on your truck the engine computer is mounted in the center under the dash correct? I want to say the EEC IV relay is under there also.

I would go out and check all the connections on the starter solenoid and the battery. Take the off and inspect for corrosion. Also there may be a little ground wire hooked directly to the large battery negative wire, and then running around the battery to the harness. This may have a connector in it, this connector likes to corrode and this ruins your computer ground.

It's in the wiring harness or on the little wire that's supposed to branch off the negative battery cable? The computer is located under the dash in the center. There is a relay under there too. Its the relay that's whining I guess. They aren't up in there anymore. I pulled them down to look at them.

I was gonna say replace the relay,I know relays can make some pretty interesting noises when something's wrong... I switched from tfi to duraspark, I can't quite remember, I could be wrong, but since you guys are talking about grounds, search that area where the computer is bolted, when I pulled mine out that bracket was brown from rust and I think the computer was grounded to that bracket. If it's rusty or corroded try cleaning that up!

I believe that relay under the dash is the EECIV relay. It powers the computer stuff. If it's buzzing, it sounds like it's not getting enough voltage. It get's it's power from the keyswitch and all that stuff out there at the starter solenoid. And the starter solenoid is where the keyswitch get's it's power from.

Starter solenoid(relay mounted on the fender) loose connection at the battery, loose/corroded ground at the battery and small ground at the battery or small ground connector at the battery area(behind the battery).

There are a couple of smaller wires on one of the large terminals at the starter relay(solenoid) that feed power to the whole truck.
