I'm new to offroading, and I was wondering what your advice is on a 1998 F-150 4x4 stock. I haven't made any modifications, so I'm guessing it has no locks of any kind. How far will this truck take me when I'm off roading?
That is not an easy question. What are you going to do when you are off roading? Mud? Sand? Hill / Rock climb? Jump it?
A stock F-150 will do ok in most light off-road situations. You're not going to win a mud bog... It will go as far as the tires and the ground clearance will carry it.
And don't forget, will always make you think your truck is capable of more than it is!
you don't have 2.5 feet of ground clearance.....we all wish we did. Ground clearance is measured from the ground, to the bottom of the differentials, or the lowest part on your truck. You should have somewhere around 10 inches of ground clearance. But you should be ok for mild off roading with that truck.
damn i didnt know you could go to a dealer and buy BIGFOOT man i want your dealers number rofl .............. even with 44's you only have bout 16-18 inches clearance . getcha a fabtech 6-8 inch lift put ya some 35' swampers with lockers and 4.56's youll have alot more fun with ya truck
