So, I'm trying to figure logistics on the General purchase. My trailer won't be done before the 1st of the year and I'm not going to drag a new machine home in an open trailer in the middle of winter with the roads all gone to hell. So, I could rent a UHaul which really irritates me. I've also got to wondering if I could shoe horn it into my bed just once. It's widest point (rear tires) is 62.5" and my bed rails are 64" apart. Not much room for error. I'm guessing I could get the dealer to load it with their forklift and I'd just have to carefully get it off. The then issue of weight on the tailgate come into play. Hmmm....

Rodney, will it fit lengthwise with the tailgate off? That is a badazz looking ride and the Monster looks like she can't wait! I wish I had the self control to do so much shopping in person and hands on. If I were to go farting around dealerships looking at the stuff you do, I would likely find many of the items following me home.

Eric, your interpretation is likely spot on.

Chad that looks like SOMEONE was having a whole bunch of fun!

I'll have to try the trick of using hot oil to coat the wood on my flatbed. I have used oil for similar things before, but hadn't thought of it on the deck of my trailer. Between the truck and the tractor, I certainly have access to plenty of hot used oil and Diesel when I want it. My used oil is typically used as a fire starter.

Have a great evening guys.

Check your local trailer dealers. There are 2 near me that both rent enclosed trailers by the day, week or weekend. They aren't very expensive either, 7x16 7k enclosed $210 a week. Maybe someone by you does something similar?

That's an option worth investigating Scott. Thanks for the idea. Oh, and we decided not to give up on the dump. 6.5'X12 with 24" sides. Done mid Jan.

I'll be interested to hear if you put the General in the bed of your truck. Loading it into my bed had not occurred to me. I've had a short bed for the past ten years and got used to not being able to fit anything in there. I'm pretty sure my Ranger is too long for the bed. It needs at least 9.5' I believe. But in a pinch it might work.

Rodney, all ya gotta do is swing by the Polaris dealer with the big hunnert foot toy hauler behind the Sooper Dooty, load the new General and head for Arizona. That way we can break the new General while it is still under warranty!!!! Problem solved!!

Ive seen rangers crammed into the 1st gen super duties before, I wouldnt be afraid to stuff mine into mine, Getting it off could prove to be youtube worthy!?

Doug youll love the oiled deck, especially for a trailer that spends its life outside. Its marginally more slippery, and gives the wood a dark stained look

I do the deck of the flat bed on my 87, my 18' equip trailer, 16' equip tlr and 35' gooseneck. let me know if you have any questions i can help.

I doubt a Ranger / General would fit in the back of a short bed Super Duty. I also think unless you had a loading dock drive-in / drive-off it would be very difficult to get it in and out.

If you're planning to buy in TN, make sure you add the cost of renting a trailer / u-haul and the whole fuel cost to how much your saving. Than think about the time it will take you. Driving many hours in a U-haul is not that pleasant for me.

If you're still going to buy a dump trailer, especially with 24" sides...use that. Cover the entire general with a tarp and tie it down very well inside the trailer. It will be fine.

The dump won't be ready in time to pick up the machine. The Uhaul would be a 6x12 trailer behind my truck, not a uhaul van. Either that or a car hauler one way so I can drive down empty. 119 for the 6x12 round trip. 190 for the one way car hauler. They don't rent the 6x12 one way...

The closest 6.5X12 with 24" high sides I've found is in Macon GA! I guess I must just like odd things.
