I agree Tom. It's on our bucket list for sure. May/June 2018 we may get as far as Glacier NP and Yellowstone. Trying to figure the logistics now. Not AK but quite the hike from MA...

This trip has been in the planning stages for the last 8-10 years, Tom, but family commitments kept delaying it - funerals, grandbabies, etc. We were going to do it on the motorcycles 8 years ago but the wife's dad got sick and died. Then the grandkids started coming - 7 years and 7 grandchildren later we are ready to go.

You earned it buddy!!! I've always been intrigued by TC's. What they do with a small space is impressive.

We shopped for a year looking at a lot of different brands before we settled on the Northstar. It is a perfect match for the SRW truck. I'm about 800 pounds over my GVWR but under my axle WR's and almost perfectly balanced front to rear. Major selling points were a full queen size bed, not a trailer size, and quality of construction. Northstar has been building rigs since the 50's and are still in business, family owned. That says something in the RV business, where almost no one has been around for more than a few years before being bought out or failed. The only other unit we looked at the met all our criteria was the Northern Lite, which is gorgeous Canadian built unit but almost $10k more than this one. With the solar and 40 gallon of fresh we can boondock for a week before we need to come up for air.

Looking at their site now Shawn. All their floorplans seem much lighter than the competition so I can understand how they'd be great with a SRW.

I've been to GNP and Yellowstone with my parents years ago. Absolutely beautiful part of the country! I plan to take my family in a couple years when the kids can appreciate it a bit more. But, yeah, that's quite a trek for you!

Yeah, I'd say you've earned it! I don't think I would want to pull a fifth wheel to AK, but I think you've got the right idea with the TC.

Fully loaded for our trip to Alabama I went over a Cat scale and we weighed in at 12,340 pounds. That was with me, Helen, the two dogs, full water, fuel and Def., fridge full of food, full propane. Front axle was about 5,500, rear was 6,900. I was pleased.

Full queen bed with lots of storage.

Three burner stove with oven, nice quality plumbing, microwave and all windows are thermopane.

The windows open from the bottom so even in the rain you can open the windows and not worry about rain coming into the rig.

The interior is very bright and open - lots of big windows. The lagun table is awesome. Wish I had one in my big rig.

Very nice! When you are at a CG for a while, do you leave the TC there when exploring or leave it on the truck?

So far we have just left it on the truck. We were at a CG in FL for a week and thought about taking it off but it is so easy to travel into town with it on we opted just be a turtle and carry it with us.

I can park in most parking spaces I can get into with the truck alone. I already need two spaces for the truck anyway and the camper only adds about 20 inches off the back. I have a rear camera which helps a lot with navigating but generally it is a non-issue to simply take it along.

Here you can see the overhang.

You can see the truck sits nice and level.

Congrats on getting the new truck already Rodney, though I am late stopping by. Missed the pics in the one page thread. Or did I?

I posted them a few places but not there Eric. I figured most of the same folks haunt both threads...

Well, we were up to 12" by noon so I went out and did my first plow run. OMG, this thing with these tires is a TANK. 4WD and diff lock and I couldn't get it to break loose or stop me. The additional 18" was there but not really an issue. Very happy with both truck and tyres...
