I got tired of "Dead Reckoning" sitting around when I had no takers on it and after asking 6k for it with the wheels and tires and everything on it I eventually pulled everything I could (step bars included) and met a guy for 5k. He showed up with 4k and I told him hell no so he came back with 4500. I said screw it and took it. I wanted it gone and wanted the cash to put towards the loan I took out on the new X. I lost money on it technically but I don't care, I have 2 vehicles again and life is good

A little update on this thread. I ended up buying from him. I drove 7.5 hrs there and back Saturday into Sunday and everything worked out great. No problems, in good condition, just needs cleaned up inside. I am keeping my 03 2wd limited diesel but they are very similar. I can't belive some thought it was over priced so I couldn't pass it up. Hopefully I'll get a few pics tomorrow once I get caught up on sleep.

So Im a newb on the site and need to have 5 posts before I can start my own Excursion thread on some issues I am having with mounting a 08-10 front axle (Dana 60) to my 2000 excursion. The only thing that doesn't seem to mate up is front sway bar brackets. It looks like they need spacers or something... HELP..Ill try to get some pictures up tomorrow.

Nope. Dunno why you think that, but it aint correct.

Any newly registered user can start a thread with their very first post.

The X is a "niche" vehicle" so you can get a premium for a clean one. KBB doesn`t take that into consideration.

You are right. That is why when I but any vehicle I try to get it at trade in value on kbb so if I need to sell it fast I wouldn't have a problem or hold on to it and make some money. I bought this one at trade in value where I am located on kbb so that may be a little different in other areas. I don't use nada for value but my credit union does so they question the vehicle everytime I find a good deal on one.

Chris, the only time I've seen someone justify a purchase as you've described in your post, is when they were new to 7.3's. And in that situation, they can't be described as a "7.3 guy" because that term can't be applied to a rook/newb.

High mileage is high mileage. Just because the engine is a diesel doesn't mean the other parts of the truck automatically last longer and hold value, and I've said that MANY times.

When I was looking at a new truck I was itching for a diesel (seriously, I thought about it) and this is what Matt told me. This along with Michael steered me back to the 6.8

I didn't mean it like that. There was a phone conversation Matt and I had that was about the mileage and the chassis/interior of the vehicle regardless of the motor it came with. After that specific talk things looked a little different for me is all.

Excellent point! I think many guys just get caught up in the "oh my god its a 7 point 3 liter power stroke! Heres my money" lol

In my search for a more family friendly vehicle I knew I wanted and Excursion and I knew I wanted an excursion with the diesel power plant. I was concerned with the 6.0 (not scared) but at the same time I was concerned with the tranny in the 7.3's. I looked at several 7.3's and 6.0's and at the end of the day I think I made a good choice based on overall condition of the ENTIRE vehicle.

I forgot the smilies, Apoc.

I was ribbing you because I had posted the same thing in a thread a long while back. You responded and commented that you hadn't thought about that aspect of the rest of the vehicle being worn, and you thanked me.
