I have an 1980 F250 4x4, regular cab, that has the sliding switch door locks in the door panel, below the armrest. Both of the switch assemblies have blown out, and I'm wondering if anyone has come up with a good replacement/alternate system.
I don't know what they were thinking with these things.
Ditch them and swap in the operating rods that run to the top of the doors. Drill holes for the buttons in the metal & plastic, and you're golden! If you wanted to do it all "stock", swap in complete '82-91 latch assemblies and '82-86 door panels.
I think you can put the vertical rod on your latch mechanism, but I'm not sure. I think I have an old latch in my junkpile, but I don't have time this weekend to dig it out & check.
