finally got around to a much needed project. repaired rusty rear fenders and repaired a massive dent in the rocker. then Herculiner the entire rocker panel and fenders front to back. ended up doing my toolbox and hood scoops as well. wish I took pics of the whole process but here is the end result. it was all in the prep clean, then wipe down with acetone, then grind rusty spots down to bare metal and Dent down to bare metal, followed by body filler and sanding. then wipe down with acetone again all the areas to be completed. Sand with 100 grit sandpaper. tape off sections which took a while to get right. then 2 coats of Herculiner. it came out better than I even thought looks like it's been professionally Sprayed.

 

 

Looks good man I like it I was thinking about doing this to my truck but I am not sure how it would look on a gold truck

thanks guys I was really pleased with the outcome. I was shocked at how uniform the texture comes out. I would never have done it if I didn't have rust issues and the dent. but I'm cheap and I never could have blended the paint well and there's no way in hell I would pay somebody to do it

Is there any kind of temperature ratings for this stuff? My Excursion was the victim of a quickly-contained cruise control fire. I was thinking about using something like this on the firewall and fender supports if it can stand up to under-hood heat...

 

Not sure the temp rating or flash point. It's seriously tough stuff once fully cured but it's original intention is for truck beds. It not a engine enamel or high heat heat product by any means. See if you can pull the msds online

 

Good job, looks great! I hate that this product gets a bad rap due to user error. I did my 98 Rams bed with it, I took the time to prep correctly and bought enough product to apply two coats and it lasted for the life of the truck and held up well to living in Alaska, New England, and New Jersey.

 

Not including drying time. The entire job took about 7 hrs of work. 6 of them being prep. This stuff will out last the rest of the vehicle

 

Online it says that it only flammable when wet so maybe it would be fine for the engine bay

Looks great. I would like to do my bed but I am leery based off reviews. Do you think the Herculiner is about as thick as the spray on stuff?

 

Looks really good and I agree on not paying someone to do something I could do myself. From my expirence that liner isn't that "tough", did the floor in my 79 bronco and 77 f150 and I prepped like the directions said so and it peeled up on both trucks. Did the toolbox of mine cuz I didn't want shiny aluminum on my F350, had a framing hammer on the lid today and I went to grab it and dragged it a little and sure enough the hammer took little chunks off the top of the lid! Now I gotta "touch" it up

 

How is the Herculiner holding up as of now?
