Driving Problems

After fixing my last problem this one popped up when going down the road at 80 or a 100 feels like a rough ride and vibrating kinda like you running oval tires then when you start giving it more gas it goes away then let off and it starts again, its fine going through town and slow driving what could it be?

80-100 what? Hopefully that's KPH, but hey....

Anyhow, yes, check the u-joints and carrier bearing in the rear drive shaft. That sounds like a u-joint starting to go. And at 100 MPH, you're probably spinning that drive shaft at what, somewhere close to 5,000 RPM? Trust me, you don't want it coming apart at that speed.

Turns put some guy before me put new hubs in and didn't take out that snap ring in there so the hubs have been locked all the time for how ever long 😩 and that stopped the problem.. what all in the front half should I replace with that much use just don't want to blow a transfer case with something something locking up ?

Well, if you were doing 100MPH with the front hubs locked, I'd say you can count yourself lucky that you didn't already frag something. I'd check it over real well and make sure that everything feels tight (especially the front drive shaft u-joints), but if it all seems well, then I'd get the hubs fixed up and then run it (albeit much more slowly than it sounds like you're likely to).

That is MPH.... I am not saying she wasn't screaming at 3400 rpm to 3700 rpm

No it's 100 km and yes I already fixed it and I'm lucky driving down city highways nothing blew and I was wondering why he said the front drive shalft bearing was wore... And the tcase should all be fine wanting the rig to last

Whew! 100kmh is a lot better (62MPH).

If he said the "front drive shaft bearings are wore" I'd look again at the u-joints and check for play in the pinion bearings. What you want to do is to wiggle up and down on the shaft right where it comes out of the front axle and see if you have any movement in the shaft that is part of the axle. If no, then check the shaft itself. You may have some slop in the u-joints (and that will definitely cause the issue you're describing).

FIRST thing I did when I read "80-100", was check the OP's profile. Ontario. Puts it in perspective.

As to the effects of running hubs locked, a lot of folks lock their hubs in November and unlock them in March or April, with no ill effects. SOME additional wear on the spindle bearing. I would still inspect everything closely, given the PO's eff-up.

More like 3800-4000.

Yeah I didn't go to his profile page, and since it isn't on his post header, I wasn't sure.

And yes, 3800-4000 RPM at that speed is a lot better than the close to 5000 RPM I was calculating if it was MPH.

Is your truck a 250 or 350. It could be the cardon joint giving you issues

It's a 250 Hd and people are saying it's a carrier bearing but it doesn't have one is that odd I see a bunch of people saying have same problems other than the clicking from a bad one of those... And u joints are solid from me and my dad's opinions...
