I have an 83 inline6 300 4x4 Bronco that I bought recently from a friend for $100.00. I need to change the drivers side E brake cable in order to pass inspection. They can do it for $70, or I can buy the parts and do it for $20.
My Question:
How hard is it to change the cable? Do I need any special tools?
Already have the Haynes Manual, but wanted some first hand knowledge.
It's not very hard, but does take some effort. With a shoe spring tool, you can swing the assembled shoes away from the backing plate without having to totally disassemble the brakes, unhook the cable end, and disengage the sheath from the backing plate, but it takes a LOT of dexterity & patience.
