Tried to update once before, and it didn't take. I'm still missing the front drive shaft (long story short: don't trust junkyard computers). I had the rear professionally modified from the donor truck; so I'll get the front done soon.
And pictures:
After!
Took a while, but proper number of shifters.
That looks so much better (and works so much better).
Good news, all was going well. I really like the Trutrack. So much so, I hadn't bothered to get the front drive shaft rebuilt/modified yet. I also scored some Aluminum (sadly, not true Alcoas) 8" rims for 300 bones from CL!
Bad news, I broke the rear drive shaft today...well, the bolts/clamps at the companion flange anyway. I'd been feeling some vibration at 35MPH, which I'd been chalking up to the old/wore out tires. I guess it must have been a loose flange bolt, or maybe it wasn't balanced right when I first had it worked on. I had the truck towed to a local shop for the quick fix (it really didn't damage anything beyond my pride) since the tow bill home (over 50 miles) would have been outrageous. I'll update with the full story tomorrow after I talk to the shop.
Moral of the story, if you feel some vibration, at least check for something loose.
Hmm. I felt a vibration last time I drove it. And I've had the driveline out a few times now. I re torqued the lug nuts, all was well but never thought about the shaft.
