Hello everyone,
My name is Gerald and this will be my first post on this forum. The main reason i've joined this forum is to get some info on some possible upgrades to my truck. I hope i'm not just beating a dead horse asking this question! I have a 2011 F250 king Ranch 6.7L. As I write this it's at the dealership getting a high pressure hose related to the DPF system replaced. Just this past August I had to replace the heater inside the DPF tank. This seems to be starting to cost me a lot of money. My question is about DPF delete. Is it a smart upgrade? What would be some pros cons with this mod? Also, when doing this mod, do you actually remove the DPF tank and lines and such? Also, what is a good kit to buy?
Thanks!
Sorry, I guess I should have scrolled down the page, there is a thread about rookie questions that i'm pretty sure answered part of my question! I would guess that all the info there for a 13 would be the same for an 11?
By the way, the tank you are referring to is the DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid)...DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) is between the downpipe and the muffler...Big torpedo looking pipe.
If you delete, you remove the DPF for sure. You have the option of leaving the DEF tank in place or removing it - whichever you choose. You can also remove the EGR, block it off, or unplug it and leave it alone.
Murrin that post you're talking about has a ton of good info in it. Savagenfs posted 4 links that have everything you need. I just purchased all my stuff today from rudy's diesel. I basically used the info I got from those guys in that post to order my stuff. If you make a few calls to the diesel performance shops you'll find they are very helpful over the phone. Here's my list if it helps you at all. 4" stainless down pipe back. 4" inlet 6" out stainless rolled tip. S&b dry filter intake. Rdp egr delete. Sct live wire tuner. Hope this helps.
Yea, John hooked me up. Bought a tuner and the delete pipe from Rudy's for under a grand. I too had just spent $600 on tank heater, line heater and such. NO More!!
I have a 2011 F250
I just deleted mine a couple of weeks ago. DPF and EGR cooler deleted. I left my DEF tank on the truck. Runs better and is getting about 3MPG better on fuel.
Downside to deleting, warranty is history, more than likely. EPA won't like you very much, (wait, that's an upside!)
Upside: longevity of the engine, higher SPG (smiles per gallon) and hopefully, your truck won't stay in a service bay as much, unless you get ignorant with it, after deleting.
i wish i got 3mpg better lol. if i added up all the MPG+ claims from all the aftermarket stuff I've put on my truck i should be getting 40mpg. but i get 15-17mpg
