Surging problem at idle

Having an issue in My F-150. '07 STX ext cab 4.6L. When I'm at idle rpm or when i'm coming to a stop and the engine comes back down to idle, it will surge and sputter. Lately its even been dying out. It does this 8 out of 10 times the engine idles down. Other than that it runs like a fox cruising down the road. My first thought was the fuel injectors/fuel system need to be cleaned. I was wondering what anyone else's opinion was and if I'm on the right track what the best remedy is. My local oil change place whom I trust offers a fuel system cleaning service. Anyhow, comments advice appreciated.

Thanks!

Is your check engine light on? If so, what is the code? Have you recently (6-12 months) changed your spark plugs? I'm having the same problem with my 07 5.4L. Code was showing a bad fuel tank pressure sensor, dropped the tank and changed the sensor, drove 10 miles, problem came back again. It's throwing the same code as if the new FTP sensor is bad. Only reason I mention the spark plugs is bc when the plugs were changed, they ran a fuel induction to burn off the carbon build up to make it less likely to break off a plug. Curious if this could have caused a problem in the fuel system that's causing the code for a FTP sensor?

It would help to know more. Mileage, maintenance history, etc.
Surging sounds like a vacuum issue, but you can also make some other quick checks...

-Inspect the FPDM for corrosion
-Clean the MAF sensor and intake manifold with proper cleaners

Check fuel pressure with a gauge.
