I recently did and egr delete and new oil cooler. Replaced coolant with ELC silicate free coolant. Truck has ran fine without towing for the last month with no issues whatsoever. Yesterday I hooked up to 4k gooseneck and towed to my house with no issues. Added a 1k lb side by side to trailer and took off. Went 40 miles and puked. Water temp never went over 220* oil temp got to around 235* at highest. I also ran a heavy tow tune. I know the coolant mixture was more like 60-40 heavy on coolant. Have new cap on degas bottle as well. Puked again towing home. Altogether I lost around 1/4 to 1/3 gallon of coolant. Took tune off of truck and topped coolant off with distilled water. Not sure why truck would puke with 1k extra pounds, did run the heavy tow tune vs the agressive street tune when towing trailer empty. Also have ARP studs installed 100k miles ago. Truck has never been overheated since the heads were checked and studs installed. Just hoping I don't need to replace head gaskets. Next time I will tow with truck back in stock tune and see what happens, just curious on thoughts?
You need to run a coolant pressure test and check your sensors for a possible biased sensor and false delta. You may have a bad head/gasket. Altho with a deleted egr cooler that in itself may be deceptive. Check your radiator for obstruction and fan for proper operation.
