Hello folks, I have not posted in a while, so thought it was time I check back in for some more learning. Over the weekend I traded in my 2008 F-450 for a 2012 F-450. Man, what a difference. I loved my '08, it was a great truck and never gave me any issues (it only had 36K on the clock). I was just starting to get worried about being out of warranty, so I got the newer one and added an extended warranty to it. I had to drive 280 miles to get the new one, but the drive back was great. A lot of improvements in just 4 years and I hope this one will be as good as the last one was. I only drive about 5K a year to pull our fifth wheel and I get to do that this weekend. I am looking forward to the little bit of extra power and torque the 6.7 has over the 6.4. Oh, by the way. My '08 only got about 11 MPG on the highway (not towing and 488 gear set) and the '12 got 14 on the way back home over 280 miles. That was nice! Now I have to learn the new truck. -Glenn
Roadking - This one has a 4.30 gear set. I am wondering if I will notice much of a difference when I am towing the 15K 5th wheel from my '08 with the 4.88. I am thinking the added horsepower and torque will make up for the gear difference (or close to it). Thanks for the congrats, I really liked the last one, but this one seems to be a step above for sure (especially the "creature comforts").
Or even with a Ford engine in it. I hate Fords with Chebbys in them.
69cj, Sorry you to hear you feel that way. I have a lot of fun in it and that's what matters. It may be titled as a "'27 Ford", but it really has nothing Ford on it. I might put a 302 or even a 289 in it one day, but right now the small block "chebby" I bought it with is running pretty good and easy to find parts for.

Sweet ride... BTW there's nothing wrong with that Chevy power plant under that hood.... errrr exposed Chevy power plant.

Howdy Master Chief Glenn.........
I had a 2011 F-350 6.7 SRW 3.55 that I towed a 42ft 18K lb Raptor with through Oregon and Washington last summer. Did a damn good job! Plenty of power. I have sold it....I was over loading it. This summer the wifey and Granddaughter that we are raising are takeing about six weeks or so to drive up through Canada and Alaska. Last December I took delivery of the Truck in my Signature. She will do an even better job of towing.
From what I hear.....you will have more than enough power with the 6.7 and 4.30 rear end.

Thanks Roy, looking forward to trying it Friday afternoon. Sure is a sweet truck so far though! These things get quieter every year and the creature comforts get better too.
