got a 99 f150 2wd v8 auto that when it gets to about 45mph it acts like it shifts into neutral. Is there anything to check before replacing the transmission? Also will a transmission from a v6 bolt up to a v8? thanks
First thing is to be sure it's not an electric control issue with a code set.
The v6 is the old push rod style motor from earlier times so it won't fit the v8 bell pattern you have.
Don't try to sub another year v8 trans unless your sure everything is the same because as each year progressed they changed things to interface with advances in computer control, motor, trans control cabling and changeover to digital dash.
Good luck.
Thanks for your response, I'll get the codes checked as soon as I can. I guess I should have known the transmissions wouldn't interchange beings I have a good one from a 97 4.2. figures
