I'm preparing to replace the Idle Air Control sensor and the Throttle Position Sensor on my truck. Each seems easy to replace by unscrewing the existing part and rescrewing the new one in it's place.
I have recently read on this board that both sensors need to be calibrated at the dealer. Is this true? What is involved replacing these two sensors?
Before you remove the Tps , Scribe some marks around it so when you install the new one its back in its original position . The IAC is easy , unplug it , unbolt it & install the new one with a new gasket . Nothing needs to be calibrated . What you can do is remove the fuse for the Ecu for 30 secs or so to clear any stored Dtcodes after the new parts are replaced .
You should'nt have to remove the throttle body unless you can't get access to the back screw.I would check it with a voltmeter after changing.Should read about.96 to 1 volt with throttle closed and 4.5 to 5 volts with throttle wide open.
