Possible braking problem.

on my 95 f-150, it snowed here today so i took the truck out to test the braking of my new BFG muds. While i did this...i noticed that my left rear tire locks up long before the others do. My ABS sensor is dissconnected because my speedometer broke and am getting a new one, so the ABS is disabled. The street was snowy but...it rained so it was all slushy when you stepped in it. I stuck my head out the window and tapped the brake to find out which tire was locking up. It seems to me that when i hit a puddle or am in water (more then just rain) this tire will lock up very easily, even on dry pavement. The other rear tire doesn't do this so i am concerned. I can see why it would lock up before the others if it was a brake prob, but why would it lock up when i tap the brakes in the rain..and i mean tap, alil more then causal braking, esp a drum brake?

Primary rig is:
95' F-150 EB 300/6 5 spd with 4" Superlift, MSD, Ram Air, Gibson Exhaust, 32" BFG Muds

Then theres:
88' F-250 Superduty 351 + c6
92' Thunderbird 3.8L V-6 FOR SALE!
95' Mercury Cougar 4.6L V-8
80' E-350 300/6 and a
3 spd column shifter baby.

The newest addition to the Ford family is a 99' Mustang GT 4.6L

Possible braking problem.

Well my thoughts we have this problem on wet days alot on the Busses I work on and it is because the right brakes get wet so they won't brake causing the left one to do more braking and lock up. typicaly the right side gets wetter since it is in the gutter side of the road. I would have them checked out but I would try "riding" the brakes to dry them out and then try it again. just my oppinion.

I've noticed that my brakes are very grabby and lock up easily when wet and cold. After they dry out and warm up they work just fine.

Yeah, but when i tested them, both brakes got equal amounts of water because i wasn't going through puddles on the right side of the road. Another point is that, the front brakes would have been just as wet. You can tell when your brakes are wet, and it wouldnt be just one thats wet when you are flying through slushy snow. What would cause one tire to lock up, i'm thinking its not just a water issue, i think its just that under dry conditions, the tire has to much traction to lock up easily.

Could it be a bad seal in the brake drum that would make it lock up easily?

the front brakes are disk and do not get as affected by the wet, first of all. but I would have them tested out then if they are still acting up. I was just giving my oppinion, since this is somthing I deal with alot here in the Portland area on our busses and trucks
