Time for another update, here we goooooo!





I pulled the rubber mat out of my donor cab and found this!!! I guess I need to patch some rust...





Original 360 off my SB. Pulling apart to see the damage.





Front 4 cylinders were frozen from water, and the block will need a bore, so to the scrapyard she goes!





Got a few more suspension pieces coated this weekend too!





I got my donor truck pulled over to the shop so I can get the engine out of it. Should be out in a few weeks and we can check the damage on this one...

I plan on it. Decided not to mess with the convertor until I can knock the pistons out and free up the engine. Can't get it out until then regardless!

While i'm on the topic: Is there anyone in the central TX area that wants/needs any 71/72 parts or 360 components? I have at least one parted out engine at this point, and thought I would open it up to anyone interested.

Swap meet today. I found some things...


External transmission oil cooler. I should be able to comb it out and make it work.


I also picked up a set of headers, along with gaskets and a K&N Air filter.

I'm baaaack! Just got home from a long weekend of work on the bump, and do I have an update for you!

This weekend was the end for our parts truck. In 8 hours, I managed to get the entire truck apart and scrapped out for my build.

Day 2 was wrought with surprises! Let's take a look, shall we?

I knew something wasn't right when I cracked the engine for the first time. Look at all the sludge in this engine! I was literally pulling sludge cakes the size of pancakes out of the valley!


We also found the culprits keeping the engine from spinning...




What surprised us the most was the lack of wear in the bores, even after all the abuse this engine has taken. The dates on our bearings suggested that the 360 was rebuilt in '82, and completely neglected since then. I'll be sending it off to get it magnafluxed and cleaned soon enough.

OKAY, here's one last look at the frame. This is getting chopped up and being turned into an "old man trailer".


Last thing I managed this weekend. Crossmembers coming back on!

Have those 2 bores checked out before you spend any money on that block. The rust might have gone in the block far enough to require sleeves. And those aren't cheap!

I will get that done. I really hope the block is good, as I don't need another large bill from an engine shop (I have a 408 Cleveland getting built for my background Mustang as we speak).

Maybe a short update, yes?

I ordered a floor pan for the cab last week, it's just waiting for me to install it.

My project for the weekend is to have a rolling frame ready for a cab by Monday, and a cab ready to put on it.

On the delay wiper switch, be careful on the grinding/cut off wheel. I got my first one too hot and melted an internal connection for the push button for the windshield squirters

After much thought, I decided to replace the old wiring with an EZ Wiring 21 Circuit kit. This will allow me to bring the bump into the 21st century with power windows, locks, cruise, 3rd brake light, etc..

Wow, this summer has gone by so fast. I have a little update on the status of *insert name here*!

We got the donor cab stripped down and ready for rust repair:










Unfortunately, I found a lot more surprise rust in the usual places.

Like cowl rust!



And in the rocker panel





I've also spent the last two days at the local swap meet looking through the 400 chebbie booths to find the 3 that have Ford stuff, and I came along the fan and relay module off a 2012-14 Focus, so I grabbed that up for a cool $20. It fits beautifully in the rad support of these old trucks. I don't have a picture of it yet, but that's upcoming!
