New 2015 or...

I currently have a 2011 F-250 KR with 66,500 miles on with about 2 years left to pay her off. Looking at a new 2015 F-250 KR with lower payments (of course it'll stretch out my loan if I pull the trigger) and mainly because it has a few options I don't have along with the increased HP/torque and exhaust brake. I pull a 37ft TT. I've looked for hints on any upcoming changes but only see the one picture that's been floating around for the last week or so. Thoughts on pulling the trigger or holding out?

I don't think I would do it if your current truck does what it needs to do.

but...you only live once and your monthly budget maybe a factor.

You could get it with lower payments and then pay extra too.

If you want a new truck and you want to trade your 2011 while it retains much of it's value, I give you permission. Lots of FTE members have traded their older 6.7s in for the 2015 model and are very happy with their new truck. I'm not unhappy that I traded mine. If you can afford a new truck and a new truck makes you happy, go for it.

Good luck and post pictures of the new beast!

If I were in your position I would get a 16. They should start rolling off the assembly line in a few months.

Or at least wait for them to come out so you can get a better rebate on a 15.

I'm waiting for the next gen. Yes, I'm less than thrilled with the one pic that may or may not be real. However, there will likely be lots more to the redesign than looks.

With added HP/Torque comes worse fuel mileage. My 2012 got 18.5 combined, and my 2015 gets 14.9.

I'm inclined to agree with the Aaron Rodgers guy. If you want a new one, why not?

If you want advice? Keep what you've got for another 5-7 years so when you do get a new one it won't be the first run of the new models. It'll give you a couple years of no payments too.

I think the wait for 16 advice is good too. Maybe you'll find the 15 you like and get a real good deal on it, but it would have to be below invoice plus rebates so good luck with that.

I'm with the first statement though, if you want one just do it. They're great trucks.

Don't take this wrong -- glad I am not the only one that noticed the drop in mileage.

To the OP:

I went from a 2011 to a 2015 for the same reason you are contemplating, plus my 2011 needed a bunch of maintenance work on it. I lowered my payment and went from a Lariat to a Platinum.. Happy I did, especially since this was my first winter in a cold climate. The heated steering wheel was awesome and my kids loved the heated BACK seats too. Things my 2011 didn't have.

Having said that - I could see waiting for the 2016s to come out and then trying to either get a good deal on a 2015 or just get a 2016 truck. One thing you could do is CUSTOM order one. That way you get what you want and nothing else. A few FTErs here have done that as well....

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Curios

Will there be much difference between the 2015 and a 2016. I currently have a 350 platinum but the new exhaust brake and maybe a dually could be in my future.

Unclear - at this time, it looks as if the major changes are not going to be until the 2017 comes out. I could find anything on what changes the 2015 - 2016 there will be. I am sure there will be changes, but probably nothing earth shattering until the redesign is released. Here is the rub - the 6.0 came out mid cycle/year so in that year you could either the old (7.3) or the new (6.0). Could this happen again?

Or ford could just do a short run of 2016's and release the 2017's early... Like I got a 2011 Ford in March of 2010...

It does appear that there will be MAJOR changes to the next model... But we don't know for sure until it is really released - but I don't think that we will have to wait too long to find out.

That however was a platform change to the revolutionary 6.0. I doubt very much that Ford will be forgoing the 6.7 platform this soon.

The 2016 Order Guides have been out on the web for about a week. (TDS)

The only changes are
On a diesel the Rapid heater is standard in Cold weather states, the same as the block heater states.
New option is four corner strobe lights. (Fleet orders only)
and they drop the Color (15) Black for a New Black and (15) Red for a New Red. (for all I know now, these might be the same colors, just name changes..??)
