DPF Delete????

I just traded my 2010 6.4 off on a 2015 6.7L cab and chassis. It will be used as a cattle feed truck. I had the dpf and egr deleted on my 6.4 because it was always wanting to regen. I currently have a 6.7 in a F250 and I don't have much regen issues. Do you guys think because I will do more idling I will have trouble?? I was considering deleting, or should I just run it awhile?? Our local Ford Dealer will work on it with the exhaust deleted.

Thanks in advance

That is obviously a choice you need to make for yourself. I find that when all I do is take my kids back and forth to school than I hit regen and never get out of it. Even so, I don't want any issues and I don't feel like taking the exhaust on and off when I leave for vacation. (The dealer around me here will work on them too) When I go into town it is able to complete a regen.

My problem around here is that in the winter - which is Sept to May, I have this urge to always remote start to warm up the interior of the truck and I end up having more idle time than driving time...

FOR ME, unless it becomes a huge issue, I won't delete.

I also went from a deleted 6.4L to my 2014 6.7L. I now have 16000 miles on it. I find the dpf technology in this truck to be much better than the 6.4. I drive it as an every day driver a lot more than I did the 6,4 and it regens a lot smoother than the other truck. I track the regens on an Edge insight and it all works so well that I have lost the urge to delete. I intend to stay stock unless I start having issues in which case I won't hesitate to modify the truck. FWIW I loved the deleted 6.4L but an accident totaled it.

My question is. Can you knock the center out of the DPF and run it without any tuning changes or MIL? I'm looking for MAX fuel mileage. I'd like to keep it looking stock but get better MPGs. This is my transport truck so even if it gained me .01 MPG that would add up at the end of the year. I just don't want to get a MIL if I don't buy a tuner.

You can knock the guts out I guess but then it won't run without a reprogram of the ECM computer. That's what the tuner does. I'm afraid I don't know what a MIL is.

MIL = Malfunction Indicator Light , more commonly known as CEL/ Check Engine Light

It'll trip a code because you wont have enough back pressure. So you still need a tuner. That is what all the sensors in that tube do.

Otherwise, all you would need is a delete pipe with bungs in it for the sensors. Wouldn't even have to knock the guts out. And the tell tale sign of a delete would still be present anyways, which is the black soot on the back of the truck.

Up at the top of this Forum, there is a sticky that's titled "Read First: 6.7L Tech Folder". The first link on that thread is 6.7L POWER STROKE DIESEL OVERVIEW. There is a pdf you can download. On page 81, you can find DPF Pressure Sensor. I imagine if you knock the guts out of the DPF, the PCM would detect almost 0 back pressure from the DPF. Then, you would have a non running truck. That's why you would need the tuner.

I don't know if my dealer will work on a deleted truck. But, if I do decide to delete later on, I will keep my emissions equipment. Never know how compliance will be regulated in the future.

By the way, the overview is a good read if you have time for a few naps in between. Funny how my eyes get heavy when I start reading something without much of a plot.

What is it called when you have a MIL Failure? What would you do with one of those in your truck? Hmmm?
