You was talking when I was. So cool it's running great. As for the vacuum
pluming is there a pic of it under the hood? Maybe on the front radiator
cover thing? That shows the factory vacuum plumbing? If not the Ford
manual has it. If ya don't have one than please download a copy on DVD,
buy a book and also use the advanced search function here on FTE. I have
seen the schematics posted several times. I don't need smog equipment
up here so that stuff all goes in the dumpster as soon as I get a rig like
yours and I re-plumb, re time and re tune it from there. Starting with a straight up timing set that if your engine has just been gone through it
prolly has. Not sure if the smog stuff will work with a straight up set or
not. Anyone care to comment on this?

He said it's now running and the timing is spot on. So the only issue
he has now is to pass the smog stuff to get it certified. Is this where we
are now? Or is it still running poor?

Sorry been busy, and thanks for all your comments and replies.

So here's an update...

My timing is correct now. I removed the valve covers to replace the gaskets and I manually turned the crank to set it on my zero mark and verified that my distributor pointed at number one. Also, verified that both my intake and exhaust valves were closed. I did not take my timing cover off but being that my intake and exhaust valves were both closed and distributor pointing at number 1 spark plug and crank pully marking at zero, I believe my timing is all set correctly.

And does seem to be running better now. I do have another post here on this forum titled "1978 f150 carburetor options" where I have a diagram of my vacuum lines but no one has been able to comfirm that my routing is correct yet. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1364873&goto=newpost
