8" wheels vs. 10" wheels

With a 4" lift on a 1977 F-150, I want to run 35" tires in the near future. I need new wheels. What differences will I see if I run these tires (12.5" wide) on a 8" or should I just go to the 10"? Truck is mostly a daily driver, maybe a little playing in the snow in the winter. I currently have 32" tires on really old 8" white spokes. Thanks.

Going off third party information, you'll have troubles mounting those 35's on a 10" wheel. If you mount 'em on the 8", they should fit under a 4" lift with few if any problems.

8" wheels vs. 10" wheels

My 35x12.50s are on 10" wheels and I have no problems. Granted I have 6" of lift but I wouldn't rub with 4"s either. The first place they'd rub would be the radius arms if the tires were wider. Having the tires on 8" vs. 10" wheels won't make an appreciable difference here.

That may very well be true... didn't notice the year. The info I had came from a 92 (I think) Bronco.

I had my 33x12.50x15's on 8 inch wheels and they worked pretty well. They wore out on the edges and required frequent rotations. I was holding out on 10 inch wheels because I thought they would hit the radius arms, well the offset is different on the 10" wheels so the tire is in the same place is is on an 8" wheel. I went with 10 inch wheels and they are so much better. The look is better, the tire contacts the ground better, my check book was sure not better though. I would go with 10" wheels just to save the tires from wearing out and cupping on the edges.

you wont have any problems mounting a 35x12.50 on a 10" wheel. i run 36x12.50 TSLs on 8.25" wheels and they look and perform jus fine but thats with about 6-7" of lift on my 89 suburban.

i'm running 235's on 15 x 8's and they fit just right.... i'd say you should have 10's for the tires you want
