Biggest problem would be the speedometer because the F-series trucks take the speed from the ABS sensor in the rear-end diff, and pass it to the ABS module, which then passes it to the PCM (engine computer).
E-series vans use a sensor on the back of the transmission for the speedometer, much like a "regular" speedo cable would. If I were doing it, I'd look for a 2000-up E-series van with the V10 and get the entire engine, tranny, wiring harness and PCM.
As a matter of fact, in 2005 I believe, the E-series came with the 5-speed Torqshift with the 2-valve V10.

While I know nothing about the speedometer/ABS/PCM: I can attest that my 07 E350 V10 has the 5speed automatic and it is FUN under heavy throttle.
the 5speed really makes the deal- it is the Bees Knees for sure.
On the flip side: As much as I've enjoyed the last 80,000miles/21months, I've seriously wondered how much better the 3valve V10's are....

Ya know, this is a really good comment. And maybe a subject for its own thread.
I drove an 07 V10 a few years ago. It was a real nice truck, no doubt about it. But in reading here, it seems to me that the reasons most folks go for the 05+ V10's is:
1) 5-speed tranny
2) coil front springs, and tighter turning radius
Speaking STRICTLY about the engine...since the 3v V10's came out at the same time as the 5-speed tranny, it's difficult to get a real apples to apples comparison vs the 2v engine. On paper, yes the 3v makes better numbers. But I have to wonder if a 2v with a non-restrictive Y-pipe and tunes by Mike at 5Star is just as good as a stock 3v.
