ecoboost swap?

been looking into different engine swaps over the last year and been hearing a lot of good reviews about this 3.5 ecoboost and was wondering if anyone has swapped one into an older truck like what we have? Or if anyone has thought it though about what all would be needed

What all would be needed.....EVERYTHING connected to that engine, including instrument panel and ignition switch. IMO not a practical swap, ymmv.

$9400 and this: NOTE; Currently engine requires stand alone aftermarket engine controller and custom engine calibration to function

Get the credit card out....

It's been talked about in the bullnose forum. The agreed best way would be to get a running salvage EB F150 and swap everything.

Not the most cost effective way home get 420hp, but it would be cool.

It's not like it used to be. Like when you could take an '83 Mustang 4cyl and drop in an '89 HO 5.0 for CHEAP.

New does not play nicely with old nowadays. Not unless you have a ton of disposable income and/or sponsors like they do on TV.

Oh yeah it cost a lot right now but they say they started making these in 09 so give it 5 more years and we will start seeing these motors in the junk yard would be a lot cheaper if you found a donor truck at u pull it or something

IIRC, though the engine is available right now, Ford racing hasn't actually released the harness and computer kit for it yet.

I don't think swapping it it from a done would work out well. You're going to want that stand alone harness and computer.

That truck tech show on power nation also said they have a pre-production kit.

2.7 in a 2x4 Ranger Single Cab...

I've been looking for a 2.7 Twin Turbo EcoBoost to swap. I found a salvaged 2015 F-150 for 12K w/4,100 miles on it. Thats the whole truck. Everything still there.

I'm afraid to pull the trigger because I have not seen anyone do it yet. The 5.0 coyote will fit and has been done but its tight. The 3.5 is old gen compared to the new 2.7. The new 2.7 seems like the best motor to have in a little truck. Lots of power, great towing, and efficient.

I would jump on a 2.7 before a 3.5 just because of the increased efficiency.
