Hey, im currently restoring my 65 F-100 LWB, and am wondering if i could replace the factory bed floor (which Shows many years of abuse) with the bed floor out of a '92 F-150 LWB, which i have access to.... thanks for any information available

65CJ! I have often thought that you could remove a nice clean sheet of bed floor and transplant it into our old beasties. Lately I have been thinking that it would be better to remove the outer fenders and install them on a complete new bed. This would get new, galvanized metal and putting on fenders is not that difficult. The mount holes would be in the wrong place because the new truck frames are wider but you could use straps or new holes. I have a short bed and I think I'll try this idea. I'll use a late model Ford short bed and get a set of long bed 65-66 style side fenders and shorten them and weld them on to the new bed. Anyone else have similiar thoughts or experiences? I also thought about using square tube and diamond plate steel to build a new bed floor and then add my fenders. One of the guys here has pictures in his gallery of a really nice bed floor replacement so I guess anything is possible. I just like simple and cheap solutions so I was looking at moving the fenders.

Several folks around here are simply taking the whole flair-side bed off of the new trucks and putting them on the older ones, leaving the old cabs... They really look pretty sharp with the old/new mix. (OK, most of the ones I've seen here have been Che... the other guys - but I've seen it done with good success on mid 60's Fords too). I'm sure they are having to fudge the mounts on them, but you are talking about doing that anyway... You would also get the advantage of having ready-made gas filler doors available if you plan to mount the tank under the bed. My 64 is a longbed or I'd think about it myself!

Hey, thanks for the info... i was thinking about changing over the entire bed floor, withh fenders, for a nice sleek, clean custom look... the doner i have is off of my brothers 91 ford that was written off, which has not even a scratch on the bed floor

Moving the complete box is good and I have seen this at shows. The challenge is lining up the wheels in the wheel wells so they don't look funny and length and width issues. Installing a 91 bed would get you bigger lights and all new sheet metal so if you do this and it turns out well please post some pictures. How is the frame on the wrecked truck? You may want to consider moving your cab and sheet metal over to that and get a new old truck?

The 91' truck's frame is toast, it was hit on the side, which totally bent the frame and ruined the drivers side of the truck... i wouldnt mind having a new frame for it, but it would be too much money to unbend

Mine has/had the same problem and im in the middle of cutting out the old floor and replacing it with a piece of flat stock alum sheet metal. I also think you would get a cleaner look then if you were to cut that piece out of that 92.
