Valve Guides

I have a 94 2.3L...how difficult and feesable is it to replace the Valve seals and\guides??? Can it be done without removing the head?

No. The guides are integral to the head casting. The seals can be replaced if you hold the valves closed whilst you remove the keepers & springs & seals. Some stick rope into the cylinder thru the spark plug hold, and turn the engine to push the piston against the bottom of the valve. Others put the cyl at TDC, and use shop air to hold the valves closed...
Other than that, remove the head, and go to a machine shop, or do it yourself...

is the rope used to take up the gap between the piston head and the valve, is this sufficiant cushioning to ensure the piston head and valve are not damaged??
