Have a 2001 Ford f150 4x4. I recently purchased some 15 x 8.5 rims. What is the biggest tire size I can run on them? Looking for some all terrain tires that has a aggressive look to them. Hoping for a wider stance also? Any suggestions?
Actually I wasn't thinking about clearing get brake components when I bought them. The guy that sold them to me off Craigslist said they would fit that they came off exactly same Ford as mine. So this weekend I'm going to put them on and see what what I have. If they dont work then I'll resale them after I clean them up..
My '01 4x4 has 16's on it. As mentioned, you may run into clearance issues with the 15's and it looks like you are doing the right thing in checking to see if there are any.
Besides wrong diameter...
Has the recessed conical lug nut mounting, instead of clamping-type for 97-03/04H.
Has the three small holes to mount the hub trim ring/cover, not the way for 97-03/04H.
I have the later Reynolds Aluminum 10-hole wheels on my '94 Bronco, no rivets.
Those probably came off of a 1989 or so F-150/Bronco like TPoT says.
BTW, I looked up the sales info I have for the new 1997 F-150, even the very base model had 16" wheels. And the 4X4 DID have 16" wheels, unless one had the "4X4 Off Road Equipment Package", which had the 17" wheels. Around here, all of the 1997-03/04H 4X4s I have noticed all had the 17" wheels, which is why I thought (wrongly) that the 4X4 was only 17". Dealers around here in the pickup truck capital of the nation probably ordered all their lot trucks that way.
People in the 1987-1996 F-Series Forum and the 78 - 96 Bronco forum might be interested in those wheels. Or even the 1980 - 86 F-Series forum.
