302 power upgrades
Hello, my truck is a 1988 f150 xlt lariat with the 302 and 4 speed manual. From what I've learned it has a speed density FI system which limits many modifications. I'm just wondering if there's anything I can do to liven this engine up some more without breaking the bank.

Camshaft (31-255-5 comp), Gt40 or aftermarket heads, headers, and a good exhaust system will really wake up the truck.
Also bump the timing from 10* BTDC to 12-13*BTDC along with new plugs, coil, and wires.

I don't plan on any aftermarket parts/mods. Should I leave the timing at 10*, or will I see a benefit from changing to 12-13* without the other mods? I DO plan on replacing the plugs and possibly the wires at some point.

Yes it still will help your truck out I personally didn't have enough time to see what it did to my truck however most say it does help the truck some. Start at 12 and move up. If you hear pining go back down it is that simple (I would test drive it at certain spots).
That is good you plan on the plugs and wires that is also part of the 6liter tune up.
