I am in the process of upgrading my injectors, changing my air intake, doing the 3" down pipe. I am looking into installing a Pyrometer. My question is this. I have seen the gauge pods that mount on the steering column cover. Does anyone know if they make one for the OBS? Something similar to this
Yep, get the one for a SD. Make sure you select the auto trans otherwise you won't get a hole.
Here's mine...
I softened mine up with heat and reshaped the opening so the gear selector didn't hit the pod so hard. No glue or velcro. It slips under the dust seal where the tilting column and the fixed dash meet.
I didn't know about the clearance until I installed mine. When shifting into park, the last bit of gear selector travel will hit the pod enough to dislodge it. By reshaping it my pod only gets bumped, not enough to dislodge it. Mine does not have glue, tape or velcro holding it in place.
With a little patience and a propane torch it was easy to reshape it. I am happy to talk you through it or you can send it to me and I'll reshape it for you.
How do we know the OP has an automatic transmission?
Clairvoyance.
The OP was asking for the pods that were removed because the gear selector was hitting the pod. He certainly could have seen the chance to use an auto pod on his stick truck. But he would have an unsightly hole. Still doesn't answer your question though.
Sorry guys, my truck is an auto.
I'm looking a couple different options right now. I'm looking at getting the 3 gauge pod and some how blanking off the 3rd opening to install my chip position selector. Has anyone else done this? Is there a blank available to accomplish this or is it a self modification?
