i'm trying to clean up my grill and headlight rings on the front of my 64 f100, does anyone have any suggestions, what to use. i have tried mothers mag and aluminum polish but i am not getting a good finish, please help lol
oh ya, whoever gave me the tip on my turn signal switch, thank you, that was the problem and my truck is now on the road and my daily driver.
Get a pan of warm water put ~1 tea spoon of water softner (CALGON) and stir place a sheet of alum foil in to the pan now place trim ring in to the pan make sure the trim touches the foil and it should briten up with out scratchs.
Works great on silverware.
Your problem is your trying to polish parts that are anodized. This is a chemical process that etches the surface of the aluminum and is very durable. The only sure fire way to shine these up is to have it professionally cleaned by a specialist. You'll be happier in the long run as it will take forever to get it done by hand.
thank you both for your suggestions, i will try the warm water and softner first, but i believe the parts are oxcidized under the anodize, so it may be a job for profesionals,
thanks again
