I have an '89 F150 with the 5.0 and a 4 speed. The other day, I went to go get on the free-way, and the truck sputtered and died. Pulled it out of gear, pushed the clutch in, and it fired back up. It has started doing this more frequently. What is it?
If it's anything like mine, it's that ridiculous ignition module on the outside of the distributor or the PIP inside the distributor.
If it's the PIP just replace the whole distributor - chances are the bearings are worn just as well. If it's the Ignition Module, you'll need this tool:
Do yourself a favor and dont buy a cheap ignition module - You'll be replacing every six months like I do.
Could also be fuel related, check fuel pressure at the rail.
