It looks like the connector corroded and caused the plastic to split. My fuel heater has a resistance of ~1.5 ohms, so I think it is OK. I think I will leave it unplugged since rumor has it, that it is worthless.
I ordered the part from Bob at diesel orings. Hopefully the leak does not get worse before the part gets here. My thanks goes out to Bob for taking my call and shipping my order today.
If you don't want to spend the money, have you thought about cutting a piece of metal and just make a block off plate? If you've got the capability to cut the steel, drill the bolt holes, use some permatex, and seal it off for good.
Otherwise, maybe coat the outside of the plastic housing with epoxy and then use permatex to seal it back to the fuel bowl.
Both options of course assume you don't care about the fuel bowl heater ever working again. The other side of the coin is, what is the $90 part worth if you get stranded on the side of the road and have to call a tow and are shut down until you get a new part?
