rearend clunk
is there a way for me to check my rear end and universal joint ? (backyard mechanic) last week i was getting this god awful screach out of the back.i put it up on jack stands and got under it. I couldn't see any gear oil leaking. i spun the wheel on the passenger side and got some scraping, but i couldn't get the drums off, so being in a time pinch, i took my van to a garage, they got the drums off,and said they were shot, (i guess 183 thousand miles is pretty good) so after two new drums and brake shoes, i was back on the road...................
now i get a loud clunk out of the back end when starting out down the road. i would like to be a little more informed before i go back to the garage, or rule out some things my self. any help would be appreciated. thanks, i'd really like to be able to do the brakes my self next time...
