Unhappy Grinding going into 3rd

Hi folks, this is my first post. I have a 95 F150 XLT, reg cab, short bed, 4 x 4 with the 4.9L and 5 speed. When shifting into 3rd I get a slight grinding of the gears as though the synchros aren't working. There is also a lot of forward and back play in the shifter when in third or 4th. If I shift into 3rd very slow there's no problem. I'm thinking it could be the shifter fork wearing out as reported here or maybe the synchros. Any one with some personal experience with this problem? Mileage is only 112K and the truck is very well maintained and super clean. Changed the trans fluid about 15000 miles ago and used Ford Mercon ATF which was also what was in there as well. Never towed anything.....yet.

Thanks
