428 ford highboy carb help
Hey guys I got a 428 in my highboy. Its a mild build. Its freshly rebuilt. Has d2 heads, 252 cam (like an rv cam) edlebrock intake, high comp pistons, swapped points out to an electronic system. It has an eddlebrock carb manual choke. 750 mechanical secondaries. When I floor the truck (4speed) it loads up and boggs. But down low she runs good and makes good power. Doesn't blow any smoke, but I can tell all it does is load up. I feel like I can get more power out the motor with a smaller carb. Or can I Jett this one down? Also for my application what kind of carb should I get. 650 vammum or mechanical secondary ? Its linked to a 4speed manual 411gears and 37s

Jetting down is lower buck than getting a new carb. Personally I'm not a fan of mechanical secondaries on the street. It would be okay on a street/strip rig but more often than not that's not what these rigs are about... torque at low rpms is king.
Therefore, a vacuum secondary 650 cfm carb would be more user friendly IMO.
