5spd manual tran.

I have a 5spd out of a 98 f-150, it has the internal hyd. throw out bearing. I would like to change it to a external slave cyl. type throw out bearing. Has anyone done this? would like to heir how it came out.

You might have better luck in the transmission forum.

Having stalked the trans forum since the day I joined, I can tell you with some certainty this has not come up. If you can weld aluminum and are good at fabrication and don't mind having a "one of a kind", you can probably make one work.

Easier to put a juice set up in imo........ but I ain't doin' the work now am I...

The 460 and oil burner ZF's have the cylinder outside the bell with a regular type fork, but I'm pretty sure you are working on a Mazda box there.

Might just be better off either getting a different transmission or staying with the Mazda M5R2. A small block ZF5 with the modular engine bell housing might be a good choice, can't recall if that one is internal or external.
