79 f100 wont crank

I have a 79 f100 with a 302. The lights and radio and everything come on but when I turn the key to start it. It won't even attempt to crank. Could it be the fender mounted starter solenoid? Or the ignition switch harness? The ignition switch itself is new.

Start with multimeter and check power at starter solenoid, from battery it might not be getting a good connection from the battery terminal. The work your way yo the "s" on the solenoid. Etc etc. it is normally a connection or terminal.

This happened to me and the culprit was the negative battery terminal and ground wire. I cleaned all the contact points, tightened everything back up and it turned over just fine.

The I immediately ordered new cables (both + and -) and ground wires. After more than 30 years of service they simply wear out.

Good luck - Scott

Also wiggle the gear selector making sure if it's on park or neutral. Assuming it's automatic.
