Flat Stanley is a paper doll school kids mail to family or friends in other parts of the country. The idea is to show Stanley the local attractions, take pictures and write a journal, then mail it back. The kids get to see and learn about different areas. Stanley is here from Detroit and we took him for a ride in the truck this past weekend.
on the road
Skyline drive, Canon City
Garden of the Gods, Colorado Springs
We drove over 160 miles, taking 150 pics. Had a great Valentines day with my wife.
one of my nieces sent flat Stanley to my sons years ago. They didn't want to encourage repeat visits from other Stanleys, so they cut out words from magazines to make a ransom note and sent some photos of Stanley getting crushed by hay bales and other hazards around the farm. They never got asked to participate in other flat Stanley adventures for their other cousins. Just to be clear - Stanley was returned unhurt. the ransom was just a joke.

Now that there is funny! FS visited my business and an autocross race a number of years ago. I only recently erased the pictures.
Stanley was also at an autocross on sunday. He got to ride in several cars, one a formula car. My wife made him a little helmet to keep him safe. Actually, it wasn't the same stanley that we had, we copied him and made a stunt double.
We did the Flat Stanley thing for my niece a while ago. My wife and I had fun posing the thing in odd but interesting scenic places.
Feel free to PM me if you need a northern New England element to his journey.
