I have a 2002 F250 superduty with a 5.4 in it, every once in awhile it starts to sputter. Its usually when i'm easing on the gas, possibly around a certain rpm and completely random. Once it starts i can get on the gas a little and it stops. i've changed to fuel filter and air filter recently so i know its not that. Any suggestions? thanks
Had stuttering issues on acceleration with my 2006 f350 5.4l sbout three years ago. Ethanol treatment in the gas tank for a few tanks cleared it up. Started up again last year; was the spark plugs this time. Had them all replaced, and it's been running smooth since. I've also started putting ethanol free gas in it; it's premium gas, but I just use it for plowing.
my truck has been doing the same thing for months '00 f250 5.4...it started when i didn't drive it for 2 weeks on a nearly empty tank. was told maybe condensation built up in tank, maybe water mixed with gas, so i ran the tank nearly empty, took fuel filter off, and siphoned as much gas out of the tank as i could. Put a new filter on, filled the tank up, mixed with some heet , something that is supposed to remove water, and it drove good for a week. made sure there were no holes in the gastank, or the fuel neck wasnt rotted away, any place water could enter. the problem came back again. put some other fuel treatment in, that worked for another week. then problem came back again. ran 89 octane in it..one day its there, another day its not. i have no codes, hell , we drove around for an hour with the diagnostic machine plugged in hoping to find a problem, like a bad coil pack. nothing. cleaned the MAF sensor. didnt help. my truck has a k&n air filter, and the plugs are only a year old.
. I hope to clean the IAC this weekend, if it gets about 15 degrees. other then this it could be a bad injector(s) maybe more ethanol in the gas around here, this is what i have done and tried, i hope this helps you.
