I just got an excursion (2000). The dealer cannot seem to get the info on the keyless entry without hooking up. I don't have the warranty card or any other document people say it may be on. I had heard it is printed in the back by the rear air. Does anyone know exactly where it is so I don't have to rip the whole thing apart?
There was a plastic card which came with the vehicle that has the default code on it. The dealer can get this code off of his computer system, IF he wants to.
Shop around to other dealers -
the one that offers to do it for free probably indicates a customer driven svc shop - the kiind I like !!!
Of course, I've NEVER used my keypad... always have my keys with me and the time I didn't is the one time the keypad would decide not to work !!!
(We do have a Lab named Murphy !!!)
The keyless entry code for the EX is in the rear right quarter panel. It is a real pain to get to due to the rear air. It is going to be much quicker to have the dealership plug in and do it for you. Usually will cost around $20.
Thanks for the insight everybody. I ended up calling the dealer every day this past week until they came and picked up the truck and got the code and a new key and remote for me. Being that I just bought it from them, I thought it was a warranted tactic. I am sure I'll be online with more questions as things go.
