That Ice Tea in the pic is for the Mrs. But given the chance I am sure he'd like a sip.

Well, was going to just replace the pads on my truck @ 65000mi as the rotors didn't look too bad but it looks like I need more than that. Left rear has a seized slider pin and right rear had a broken piston. I haven't taken the fronts apart yet.

Anyone had the full brakes done at the dealer so I have an idea of cost? Was hoping to head south on Tuesday but that will get delayed now depending on how long it takes to get parts and whether I just have the dealer do the work.

My local Advance auto had pads rotors and calipers in stock when I needed them.

I ordered online to get the discount that usually pops up on the website then picked up at the store.

I can get the parts from local Napa (I'm in Canada) I expect but rather than mess around and take more time I think I'll get the dealer to do it, my son gets 1/2 normal shop rate.

How hard is it to do the rear rotors on the dually? Haven't looked at how the fronts are mounted yet either.

You need a special socket for the rear hub bearing nut. May be called a hub nut or spindle nut socket. Also got that at Advance for under $20.00

Take axle out, remove caliper and bracket, take hub nut and bearing out, remove hub and rotor, unbolt rotor from the inside.

Fronts
Look at this page to see what the fronts look like. Use a socket and extension through the hole in the wheel adapter.
Leave the nuts on with a couple of threads. If you have a big enough wheel puller for a slide hammer, have at it. Or carefully with a maul, have at it.
Odds are good the rotor will need to be hammered off as well.

don't forget some extra axle lube when you take the axles out.

If you were just doing calipers and pads not so bad.

My son says his shop has an on truck rotor turning machine so if the rotors can be cut I can avoid replacing them until next summer when I have the time to do it. You referring to diff lube?

yeah diff lube. Those on the truck machines for the rotors are sweet. Didn't have those when I was turning wrenches.

Here is my thread when I did my rear brakes. I know I wasn't as precise taking pictures but hopefully this can help somewhat.

Just looked over your thread, why the concern with re-packing the bearings?

That machine is 'cutting' or 'grinding' the rotors?

I believe I cleaned them real good to get a look at them so they needed it and from what I would imagine the manual that I read was saying to do so.
