Question Help!!

I recently purchased an 84 bronco II w/ a 2.8 engine and am having a couple of problems. The temperature dummy light comes on after the engine has been running for a few minutes. I replaced the radiator, head gasket, machined the heads, water pump, and finally the thermostat, and the light still comes on. One side of the radiator (left) gets hot, and the other stays cold. The upper left radiator hose stays hot while the lower right hose goin to the thermostat does not. The thermostat is positioned so that the thermometer is facing the hose and radiator like I have done on all other cars&trucks. Am I putting the thermostat in wrong on this engine??????? I also have a fuel problem. The engine will run and suck fuel from an external gas tank, but not from the gas tank. Replaced fuel pump and attempted to blow out fuel lines. Any ideas??????? PLEASE HELP!

Help!!

The spring side has to go towards the engine.. normally Thats the part that needs to sense the heat. You can always take it out and try it. the top hose should be hot and the lower cooler. Thats not the issue the issue is do you feel heat behind the fan. The system could be air locked.. Pull the tank down and look inside Also look for hole in line before the pump. Suction leak

Help!!

Make sure you only have a thermostat in the Lower Hose. On an 84 thats where it needs to be. One of my B2s had the thermostat in both hoses when I bought it. Some mechanics are stupid.

Help!!

On 2.8's with the lower t-stat, you have to fill the engine with coolant through the upper radiator hose before you fill the radiator to get the air out. Per the service manual.

Don't have to do that on my late 85 with the upper t-stat.
