I found a good tip for plug welding trim holes, especially blind holes where you can't get behind very well. Take a nail, grind the head down so it just fits into the hole. Put it in place from in front, slightly below flush. Tack in place then cut if off with a zip wheel and finish the welding. One nice thing is the shank of the nail acts as a heat sink making it less likely to burn through. I used a bigger nail because the head was thicker.
Perfect timing. I have been trying to come up with something like that for when I ream some holes on the inside of my tail gate so that I can pound out a few dents.
