steering box re-seal

My power steering box is starting to sweat p/s fluid from the side connecting to the steering column shaft. I've replaced the pitman arm seal before which was easy. I've never replaced the seals on the steer column side. I see that b/graveyard sells the seal kit and was wondering if anyone has done it and how difficult or successful were you?

Here is a copy and past for a 78 Full side Ford truck....do you have the F150 steering box swap on your Bronco? West Coast Broncos

Steering box input seal…piece of cake 30 minutes 78 F150. Try dealership OR……Autozone part # 8520 $8.99 in stock. Ford part # F3AZ-3E502-A Input Shaft Seal Kit…

Undo bolt at rag joint, remove plastic cover on steering column (in cab) loosen steering column bolts (2 bolts to dash) pull up on column and disconnect rag joint from steering box.

Drill small hole in dust seal on steering box & screw a screw in and remove seal remove snap ring, drill hole in seal remove with screw. Replace seal, snap ring, dust seal and reconnect steering column.

If you do not have the steering box swap I am sure the directions for the full size truck steering box seal replacement will work?

Mine looks different. It has a large spanner nut on the input shaft. Maybe the early broncos are different from the 78s. I'll take a closer look after I remove the column shaft from the box. If the seal goes in externally then I'm in luck. thanks for the input.

Yes the EB's are different than 78/79 Bronco, the 78/79 Bronco is like the F150 truck.

I am sure on the million EB sites out there, there is some tech write up on it.

I've done two now (both 4x4x2 conversions using the 78-79 FSB box). It was a piece of cake. Just follow the write ups and don't lose the bearings! One thing I wish I had done different is double checked the sector shaft lash(?) adjustment. I just left it as is both times, not sure how that will work out in the long run.
