4X4 Question

Hi everyone. I am brand new to this site. I have learned so much already just from what I have read in the last few hours!

I have a question. I took my 2000 F150 4X4 into the dealer todady to have the 30,000 mile service performed and they are saying that the front and rear differentials do NOT require a fluid change at this time. The service writer said that since the factory uses synthetic gear oil in both diffs, I don't need to worry about changing it for a long time to come. Is this true? Does anyone know what the ford recommended change interval is?

Also, does anyone know how many quarts of oil the engine takes? The dealer is telling me it takes 7. It is the 5.4L V8.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Todd

4X4 Question

This is ok. If Ford says it isn't needed, then they have obviously researched this and believe it to be true. Synthetic fluids do last alot longer than conventional oils. What does the owners manual say about when to change them? It is in the rear portion of the manual.

As far as oil goes. 6.5 qts will put it to the full mark. There was a thread on this awhile back and everybody's truck took 6.5 to reach the full mark.
