I need a new rear bumper. I have a Uhaul frame mounted class III hitch there, any suggestions on what kind of bumper I should get? My stock one is starting to rust.
The ones they sell in whitney are nice. A frind put one of the chrome with plastic on top ones on his chevy a while back it looked nice but it wasnt the strongest ive ever seen.
Hey MustangGT221!! Are you looking for something HEAVY-DUTY or something to keep the police off your butt? There's so many choices these days..... Do you want chrome, painted, powdercoated? If I was going to spend more than $100.00, I would design my own and have a shop fabricate and weld it up for me. I had one made up for the front, and powdercoated for $79.00. It's plain and simple, but it's H-D and does the job! Since you already have a hitch, your pretty limited on what to buy anyways. I don't have a digital camera yet (to busy spending money on truck stuff), or I'd send a few pics to you.. Anyways, good talking to you again! Get back to us, thanks....
If you have one fabricated, have the hitch receiver integrated into it. It really cleans up the departure angle, but you can still use a drop draw-bar to keep a trailer level.
Hey MustangGT221, check out steve83's rig!! You'll be impressed. I hope it was ok, Steve to download copies of you rig, for my own, that is.I'm still too computer illeterate to do anything else!! Makes me want my 78' Bronco back! Talk with you guys later....
I would like something that looks good that will replace the stocker. I don't mind the hitch and where it is, I don't really have a problem with departure angles, I have enough lift for what I drive on. I want it to be chrome, but was thinking of a different style...just don't see many of them around.
Dang! Now thats a BRONCO! Steve83, thats waht its like.....where I come from! Hanging your bronco from the tree to wash its belly is Red-Neck GENIOUS! You guys rock!

Thanks - that was back in the heady days of my youth. I was testing the POS winch as much as anything - it was just something to do that afternoon.

The one I built could be skinned with self-adhesive stainless steel foil from JCW for the XLT-look. It's perfectly flat along the back, and the curves at the ends are smooth. And it's so strong, I'm sure I could pick the truck up by it LEVEL if I had a heavy-enough forklift with a 2" square bar to stab into the receiver. Now that I think about it, I know where one is, but I don't think they'd let me play with it.
Hey Steve! If I had a fork-lift, I'd let you plat with it!! On one more note (not related to FORDs?), hows the economy in your area? Up here in NY, it's gone from bad to worse. We can no longer smoke in bars!
Hey MustangGT221, and Steve, do you guys remember a company called GO-Rhino, the manufactured those "Bull Bars" in Aulstraila? They had some serious bumpers to fend off those pesky kangaroos! I don't know if they still manufacture them or not, just thought I'd mention them. I'd still rather have "THE STEVE" bumper, winch pulling, not want to get hit with set-up! Talk with you guys later....
