Travel Link Functionality un-documented?

I am currently travelling with a Canadian vehicle in Fla., and I have the radio with Nav.
I had some time to play with features never previously used, the “Travel Link”.
It shows me gas prices and movie titles playing in nearby theaters ok, but am having trouble with weather. It thinks I am in Alabama (never been there), and if I manually select Tampa, Florida from the State/City menu, after next vehicle start-up it goes back to Alabama.
Questions:
How does one set the default state/city and retain it (eg so it comes up Florida when vehicle started) or is this even possible?
Does this weather feature work in Canada? I don’t see a “province” option in the menu, just US States.
Is a Sirius subscription mandatory for these features to work? Eg if I cancel my Sirius music subscription, will all this functionality die?
Is there a manual for these features? Travel Link and how to use it is markedly absent from my owner’s manual.
Has anyone used this extensively and are there any known issues?

Have you consulted the owner's manual?

(owner's manual) Don't have one -OR- would like a digital, searchable desktop document?

thanks for the manuals links...the feature is mentioned briefly in the SYNC manual but is not written at a fine enough level of detail to answer my questions. Anyone?

Hi Big-Red-Lariat,

Travel Link isn't available in Canada for your vehicle, and you may be experiencing the free trial for the U.S. that SiriusXM transmits every couple months. Give them a ring at 888-539-7474 to refresh your signal (or you can do it online at Welcome to the world of satellite radio - SiriusXM Radio). That should help with it thinking you're in Alabama.

I use that feature all the time it's great when you are traveling. It is part of Sirius-XM and is an additional fee on-top of the service fee (about $2/month). If you go on-line and sign up for the free trial you get these features. Once the free trial expires you can get them the give you the extra services for free. I call every year and tell them I plan to cancel my subscription due to cost. Every year they give me travel link for free. Although one year I had to let the subscription expire, then they wanted to know what they could do to get me back.
